June 28, 2007 - Today, phatz joins SEMPO, the Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization, a well-respected Search Engine Marketing organization with roots right here in Atlanta.
"SEMPO is a global non-profit organization serving the search engine marketing industry and marketing professionals engaged in it. Our purpose is to provide a foundation for industry growth through building stronger relationships, fostering awareness, providing education, promoting the industry, generating research, and creating a better understanding of search and its role in marketing."
A lot of people I have worked with over the years are all members of SEMPO, and, well ...I dunno, I have never really been a big fan of organized professional groups. I get much more out of spending one-on-one, or small group time at a coffee shop with some really smart people than I do attending swanky parties, swilling alcohol and making industry small talk. There's nothing wrong with that - it's just not me.
So, I'm giving it a shot. I love to consistently learn and build my skills and with industry hotshots like Dave Williams, Chris Boggs and Danny Sullivan aboard, I suppose there's a lot to learn and experience.
